We stock a selection of antique reclaimed doors, windows
and partitions from Colombia, ranging from approximately 80 to 200 years
old, some dating from the republican and colonial eras.
The architectural
style was originally directly related to the Islamic architecture in
Spain during the centuries of Moorish occupation, then
during the second half of the nineteenth century the republican styles
began to combine with the existing designs to create the unique blend
that is apparent in these doors and windows.
The doors originate from a variety
of buildings, some from very old haciendas in the countryside around
the capital Bogota, some from rural cottages,
and others from properties in the old quarter of the capital.
Most
are made of oak, cedar, mahogany or South American pine, and are available
in a variety of styles, some quite simple, either panelled
or half-glazed,
many with shutters, and a number of them beautifully ornate and hand-carved. |
